Exmoor and the Quantock Hills are a walker's paradise, whether you are an experienced walker or someone who prefers a short stroll. The cottage is particularly well placed being at the midpoint of the Coleridge Way, with numerous walks straight from the door. There are walking books and maps provided at the cottage to help you plan your route. A good source of information on walking routes is also available on-line at http://whatsonexmoor.co.uk/exmoor_walking.htm.

Exmoor is also a fantastic location for cycling and mountain biking. The tour of Britain (the milk race) actually ran through the village in 2010. The Iron Man run is also close and with over 400 miles of bridleways it has some challenging and spectacular off road runs

Alternatively, if you want to enjoy beaches, the coast is just three miles away.

The area has plenty of historical interest too, including the ‘Mineral Line’, the ancient port of Watchet and the mediaeval village of Dunster.

The seaside town of Minehead is a short drive away and there are many picturesque villages along the West Somerset and Exmoor coastline and inland, including Porlock, Lynton, Lynmouth, Exford, Wynford and Dulverton. Alternatively you can explore the east of Somerset, which has many attractions for the visitor, including an exceptionally varied countryside, encompassing the Levels, the Blackdown Hills and the Mendip Hills and such famouse sites as Glastonbury and Wells

And, if you fancy something totally different, you can treat yourself to a nostalgic journey by steam train through the beautiful Somerset countryside.
